Summer magic

Written by Vega.

June has been a very busy month for us and July will be even more so. We are quite excited as things are starting to slowly fall into place and our gig roster has filled up nicely – we are definitely spreading some summer magic on the live circuit. Looking back on last month we’ve had some exciting performances and we’ve been able to proceed to the next round of the Three Counties Battle of the bands, which is very exciting.

It is official; we’ve started to work on a new album which we are hoping to release under a kick-ass label next year. Nothing concrete yet, but we are putting our feelers out and have received encouraging nods from a few players, so we’re hoping to put things in writing during the coming months. Seeing that our first EP was produced and engineered by Neverstar we are pretty sure we’ll take our music to the next level if we work with an experienced studio and marketing team.

Earlier this year we’ve decided to record and write one new song per month in preparation for our debut release next year, this is quite challenging considering we all have demanding day jobs and we’re performing quite frequently as well. Currently we have first drafts of around 3 tracks for the new album, and I’ve been in the studio recording some of the vocals. To date we’ve achieved our monthly targets which we are quite proud of.

As with any recording project, the process does take a considerable amount of time and we often have to re-write or re-record bits to make sure it’s just right. Luckily we’ve learned a whole lot whilst working on our EP (on both the recording and marketing side of things). And we’ll be taking these valuable lessons into the studio, ensuring we spend a good amount of time on getting each of the instruments and vocal parts just perfect. The new tracks are pretty awesome and I think we are definitely well on our way to making our mark and developing our uniqueness

A highlight on our 2011 gig calendar will be our performance at the Underworld in Camden, we are extremely excited to play at such a legendary venue. To ensure we rise up to the occasion we have been concocting a pretty awesome set, if I must say so myself. Our next performance will be at the Fiddler’s Elbow on Sunday and we will have a surprise at the show, so make sure you get down there. It’s guaranteed to be a good night out.
